By His Blood by Pastor Melissa Scott

You know the old hymn, “Through many dangers, toils and snares we have already come, ‘tis grace hath brought us safe thus far and grace will lead us home.” That’s what this verse is saying here, “hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.”

Now listen, you saints, “when we were yet without strength,” and the Greek has it “having no strength at all,” “when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die.” Look in your heart, don’t just listen to theological words. Who would you die for today?

Well, scarcely for a good man would one die, yet maybe, “peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,” short-fallen ones, not deserving anything…someone might possibly die for a good man, but God’s love is commended toward us in that while we were unmeriting, “Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified,” that is “held right,” “by his blood.”
